Project 4 Storyboard

For this last assignment, I wanted to create the visuals for a song. The song is titled "Celestial" by Tori Kelly, and it lends itself to several visual effects I would like to explore. For instance, the lyric "oceans turn to gold right before my eyes." I hope to actually film the ocean and add an effect that turns the colors to a gold vibrant hue. I plan to use video footage for the entirety of the project. I'm open to any other interpretations of these lyrics.

  1. Neat concept, animating it all could be a pain though as I'm sure you know.

  2. Looks like a pretty idea. I would suggest that if you're self-shooting the footage- to shoot in a higher frame rate to allow for slower motion.

  3. I like your idea and your wanting to explore what after effects can do for you if you learn more. If you want to film the ocean you'll have to give yourself time to actually visit it and that might prove to be a bit time consuming/difficult. Your idea leads me to wonder if we'd be able to use footage from online rather than our own if we're only going to use it for non profit and altering it. That would surely save time for you and probably for other people with equally ambition film goals. :)

  4. I always like the idea of animating to an existing soundtrack, the concept is handed to you in a good way. Copyright issues aside, this sounds great. The trick is elevating straight video using effects or filters so it becomes a motion graphics project. Much could be done with layering and blending modes, just like photoshop, in unpredictable and less literal ways. Rippling waves as a top layer might be interesting. Will you go to the beach or have you shot the footage? Don't let the lack of production keep you from moving forward. Online footage is allowed, especially when high enough resolution (1920x1080) and manipulated for your own purposes. I ask the same questions re found footage i ask in digital imaging about being fair to the original photographer/videographer. Is it possible to layer the piece maybe art directing the central figure (which could be a shadow now that we are playing what ifs) against green screen - which you can check out with light package. I super love the ambition in this project.
